Volunteer
School and Church Liaison
Healing the Culture has a multitude of products, resources, and programs for churches and schools. For example, we have excellent speakers for conferences, dynamic leaders for retreats, and professional trainers for continuing education classes. We also have a video learning system so that churches can hold their own self-facilitated Life Principles classes for adults and young adults.
Volunteer Church-and-School Liaisons meet with pastors, religious educators, church committee leaders, teachers, and school administrators to introduce them to Healing the Culture services, programs, and materials. They volunteer to serve on committees to bring in Life Principles education, or to facilitate self-directed programs.
Becoming a Church-and-School Liaison is very easy. This website contains pages and materials which you can print to create a professional presentation portfolio.
For example, you may be interested in encouraging your pastor to incorporate Life Principles education in your church. This is how you would create a special portfolio, just for your pastor. First, click on the "charter," "mission," "our team," and "endorsements" links in the "About Us" menu above, and print out these pages. Insert the pages into a three-ring binder and make a divider called "About Healing the Culture" to insert in front of these pages. This will tell your pastor all about our organization, our people, and our popularity and successes.
Next, click on the "Life Principles" tab under "Resources" in the menu above. Print out the ten articles and put them into the three-ring binder, behind a divider called "Curriculum." This will give your pastor an understanding of what Healing the Culture actually teaches in our programs and materials.
Finally, click on the "Finding Peace" and "Being With" tabs under "Services" in the menu above. Print out all these pages and insert them into the binder behind a divider called "Programs and Resources." This will show your pastor the many ways he can implement Life Principles education in the church. You can pull our logo off the homepage of this website to make a nice cover page for the front of the binder. Be sure to include a contact page inside the binder with your name, address, telephone number, email address, and hours of availability.
After making the binder, your next step will be to arrange a time to meet with your pastor in person, to give him an overview of what we have to offer, to answer his questions, to give him ideas of how you think certain resources or programs could fit into your particular church environment, to assure him of your level of commitment in organizing events and activities, and to present him with the notebook when you are done. Arrange to have a follow-up meeting within two weeks, after giving him a chance to read the materials and do some thinking. Your goal will be to take the first step toward commitment to at least one of the projects in the book.
Pastors are very busy people with many responsibilities. The more you prepare in advance for your pastor, and the more you are willing to do to bring this education into your church, the more successful you will be. Most pastors are very open to bringing in new educational ideas, as long as they know that they have committed people who will help lead the effort and see the project through to the end.
This means that you may be responsible for organizing, advertising, and setting up weekly "Finding Peace" classes, for making sure that a quotation makes it into the bulletin each week, or for arranging to bring in a speaker or retreat, or to host a conference. It may help to form a small committee of volunteers at this point. It may also help if you are willing to do some fundraising, or to make a financial contribution to help your church defray some of the costs. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need advising or help.
