There's a culture war being fought every day on television, in newspapers, and in the hearts and minds of young and old alike. Nowhere is this more visible than in the area of health care.

Today's health care community is becoming more and more unprepared to dialogue on basic concepts such as the sanctity of human life and the foundation of human rights and freedoms. Much of this is being driven by a rise in technologies such as in vitro fertilization, cloning techniques, embryonic stem cell research, the RU-486 and "morning after" abortion pills, and other attacks against God's design for love and life.

Worse, today's medical students are woefully ignorant about human dignity, deeper interpretations of human suffering, and the responsibility of caregivers towards the protection of the sanctity of all human life.

For example, recent news clips announced that Yale University has partnered with a Planned Parenthood affiliate to create a residency training program teaching second-year medical students how to do abortions. According to one news clip, "Yale officials are not only satisfied with the program but elated that Yale students are doing large number of abortions."

It is so tragic that, in a culture that recognizes the need for more humane and compassionate doctor-patient relations, Yale University responds by having their medical students maim women and destroy life at the local Planned Parenthood.

As you know, Healing the Culture was founded to address this moral black hole in a way that is rational, responsible, and intelligent. Our purpose is to bring abortion and euthanasia debates to a new level by "filling the education gap." Our programs, resources, and curricula are designed to reach the population where they are most likely to be influenced -- in their schools, churches, community centers, homes, and workplaces.

Your financial investment gives us the funding we need to invest our time, energies, and talents developing programs like this. That's why I'm asking for your support today.

We need your help to continue the work of Healing the Culture. Our founder and chairman of the board, Fr. Robert Spitzer, has been working with our strategic planning committees to develop new curriculum materials which will be accessible to more students than ever before.

Will you please make a commitment to help us in our work by sending us a contribution today?

All gifts are tax deductible and gratefully accepted and wisely used, whether you send $10, $25, $50, $250, or more.

Please keep us in your prayers, and feel free to call us if you have any questions. Our phone number is (425) 481-6563. Thank you and God bless you!

The Being Withİ Program

Being Withİ is a volunteer project of Healing the Culture, where we train "visitors" to spend time with elderly, disabled, and terminally ill people in nursing homes and hospices. Our popular, church-wide Being With© program called "For the Love of God!" combines speaking presentations, youth activities, and volunteer training and addresses issues of happiness, love, quality of life, and suffering. Combined with the quilt program, we give people a 'hands on' way to share in our mission.

If you are looking for a program that raises the level of awareness of the importance to all of us of those who are ill, vulnerable, debilitated, and needy; for a program that recognizes that the ill and vulnerable among us are human beings with intrinsic dignity who can provide us the opportunity to share love, commitment and compassion; or for a program that gives us a window into the true reason for human suffering and raises us to our highest and best level of existence as we share others' sorrows and burdens -- then Being Withİ is the program you're looking for.
