"Finding True Happiness"

"Finding Peace: A Guide to Happiness, Freedom, and Wholeness" is a seven-part VHS course which can be viewed individually, or facilitated in a group setting. The program comes with instructions for group facilitators. A personal journal/workbook can be purchased separately.

The course was created to take viewers on a journey to discover the incredible dignity, meaning, and sacredness of human life. It offers a philosophical exploration that answers basic questions about human happiness, sexuality, love, quality of life, freedom, ethics, rights, and suffering. By encouraging viewers to contemplate on deeper interpretations of human meaning and purpose, the course seeks to move people to embrace the sacredness and dignity of all human life, and to accept social responsibility for those who are unborn, elderly, weak, dying, underprivileged, or otherwise vulnerable to oppression, persecution, and abuse.

"What Does It Mean to be a Human
Person?"

The course serves as an excellent "self-study" program for individuals, or as a facilitated program (up to seven weeks) for a group. The program has been highly acclaimed by church leaders, educational institutions, and public figures for its non-confrontational, respectful approach to complex life issues.

Who teaches it?

"Finding Peace: A Guide to Happiness, Freedom, and Wholeness" is taught by Camille De Blasi Pauley, using the "Life Principles" curriculum of Robert J. Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D., President of Gonzaga University. The videotaped course was delivered in front of a live audience of individuals who were young and old, Christian and non-Christian, from various ethnic and ideological backgrounds.

The course, which consists of seven half-hour programs, with an optional personal workbook/journal, helps viewers to:

  • Identify four different levels of happiness (Unit 1).
  • Build habits for living on the highest levels - faith and contribution to others (Unit 2).
  • Discover the sacredness of sexuality (Unit 3).
  • Distinguish between worldly success and true success (Unit 4).
  • Understand that freedom requires commitment to what is actually good (Unit 4).
  • Make ethical choices based on "Golden Rule - Silver Rule" ethics (Unit 4).
  • Embrace the intrinsic dignity and inalienable rights of every person (Unit 5).
  • Learn why an all-loving God allows suffering in the world (Unit 6).

How does the "Finding Peace" course work?

The course was designed for two settings. First, it makes an excellent self-study program at home. Secondly, is also perfect as a facilitated course with a group leader in a church, school, or organizational setting. The Finding Peace course is frequently offered as a special evening or weekend series for adults and young adults through religious education classes, faith formation programs, special seasonal reflections (such as Lenten or Advent series), social justice committees, respect life teams, Sunday school programs, and youth groups. Typically offered as a weekly course over six or seven weeks, participants watch one half-hour unit, and then engage in discussion, Q & A, and Bible study. Alternatively, individual units in the series can be used to supplement materials and lessons in other classes. Facilitators receive instructions for holding classes, and have access to telephone representatives for additional assistance throughout their course, as required.
