Healing the Culture is dedicated to advancing the most complete and dignified vision of what it means to be a human person. We recognize and respect the intrinsic dignity and inalienable rights of every person, from conception to natural death.

We affirm that human beings are not defined by what we look like, nor by our physical abilities, but by the ultimate meaning and purpose of human existence. We understand that ultimate fulfillment is not found in material goods, nor in self-promotion, but in participation in the mystery of unconditional Truth, Love, and Goodness, in communion with other persons. We believe that every human person is directed toward this end from the moment he or she comes into existence.

We hold that God's unconditional love for us grounds the intrinsic dignity of every human being, and unites the entire human family at all stages of growth and development. Because our dignity is intrinsic to our nature, and is independent of any physical, emotional, intellectual, moral, economic, or social condition, it cannot be removed or forfeited by anyone for any reason.

In light of the unique and inalienable dignity of the person, we hold that the primary duty of a just government is to recognize and defend the inalienable right to life of every human being.

Societies have a responsibility to protect this dignity through the formation of a healthy culture. A healthy culture promotes a view of happiness driven by a sense of deeper meaning and purpose in life, a view of success driven by the common good, a view of quality of life driven by respect for the ideals of faith and love, a view of love driven by the ideals of commitment and self-sacrifice, and a view of freedom driven by the pursuit of truth and goodness.

We have seen that cultures with incomplete or erroneous notions of personhood develop insufficient or harmful responses to human suffering, and fall short in their duty to protect the weak and the vulnerable. We respect the intrinsic dignity of those who are weak, small, dependent, disabled, elderly, terminally ill, or otherwise vulnerable, and we believe in seeking compassionate, just, and inclusive responses to their needs.
